It has been a fun and festive week.
The carol Service was a lovely afternoon. As someone who was at both sittings I can attest that the singing was much better on sitting 2- thanks due to the enthusiastic singers in year 3! Well done guys- you did us proud!
Party day seemed to go off with a blast! There were some fabulous and very generous Secret Santa gifts. Thank you parents for this – it was a new idea- but the children absolutely loved it and they were all chuffed with their gifts. There was loads of food which we managed to still be eating on Friday. We polished off the last few biscuits and bread sticks while watching Nativity.
We worked very hard on the D and T project- creating our treasure boxes. The children designed these and then used a net to create the boxes. Quite a fiddly process involving the use of the glue gun. Once the drawn on designs were complete there was opportunities for adding beads, sequins, tinsel, feathers and glitter! We had only one major incident with glitter! So a success really!! The finished boxes do look fabulous with all their adornments. Many children took extra bits to put inside the box as their treasure!
We did still teach Maths till the bitter end continuing our work on subtraction- subtracting 3 digit numbers ending with 98 and 99 by rounding to the 100 and then compensating. Lots of children were quick to get this but some need some more recapping. We will revisit next term. If you want to support over the holidays you can make up some of these type sums (543-199, 764-398 e.c.t) and there are some subtraction activities on the homework sheets attached last week.
We have set a Holiday homework which is to create a project about the Rainforest. All children had a letter but we know some of these may not make it home so a copy can be accessed by clicking here!
Top Dojos this week were Alya and Hamish. Effort cup has gone to Nicole for her efforts in maths and King Tut has gone home for the last time with Nathan. There will be a new Topic Mascot next term.
Huge thanks to everyone for lovely cards, lovely gifts and kind words. We are extremely grateful for your generosity.
Have a superb Christmas with your kids – I would say have a rest – but I know what Christmas is like!
This term has been a pleasure- roll on 2020!
