Wow! What a manic week!
This week we have had a big focus on natural disasters. We have learnt how the earth is structured and we are starting to apply this to knowledge to volcanoes and earthquakes. We have been conducting our own research to find out what volcanoes are and how they are formed. We can’t wait to find out about the most dangerous volcanoes around the world and what causes a volcanic eruption. In Science we will be creating our own chemical reactions using different solvents and solutes.
In art we had a whole heap of fun trying to draw self-portraits. Without any support we just had a go and then Mr Smith taught us skills to develop and improve them. We were really impressed with the progress we made.
Our maths focus has continued to be on securing our place value with numbers up to a million. Next week we will be moving on to rounding, negative numbers and roman numerals.
In our computing session we revised how to create safe and memorable passwords. Then we discussed the difference between software and hardware. After, we completed some activities on Purple Mash to learn about the Network.
In netball we have started to play mini games and play in specific positions. Our special awareness, speed, variety and accuracy of our passing has really improved. We are paying much more attention to our footwork and are starting to learn some of the rules associated with netball.
Well done to everyone that has been reading daily and who have faced the reading challenges head on. Also a huge well done to those who have put themselves forward to be our class school councillor. So far we have heard 3 speeches which have blown us away. We look forward to hearing the rest on Monday and then making the very tricky decision of who we want to vote for.
On Thursday it is World Language day and we have been allocated Italy. Please could you come in dressed in the Italian flag colours on this day.
