What a practical and eventful week we have had!
In Science we completed a number of tests based around solutes, solvents, solutions – dissolving. Our favourite of all was experimenting with reactions when mixing fizzy drinks with Mentos. Next week we will develop our predictions and further investigate reactions with mints and liquids. We will devise our own questions, think about resources and equipment that we will need, how we will make the tests fair, how to record our results and read and interpret our results.
We have been incredibly impressed with our versions of ‘Who’s Afraid Of The Big Bad book’. We have been developing cohesive devices to organise within paragraph’s and developing speech between 2 or more characters which has involved using punctuation for effect, marking direct speech with inverted commas and varying synonyms for said.
On Tuesday we watched an amazing performance of ‘The Secret Garden’. We were then chosen to stay behind for a workshop to learn about what goes on behind the scenes and what was involved in producing the production such as lighting, sound, scenery and acting.
In PE we have been learning the ‘High 5’ rules and put this in to action. We are now playing and rotating the different positions and developing our footwork, passing and shooting skills. Our passing is much more accurate and pacier. Some of us are thinking much more tactically, especially when asking for the ball.
Thank you to those who attended our open morning and MacMillan Coffee morning.
I am over the moon with the amount of reading that Year 5 are doing at home. Please remember to go on TT Rockstars at least 3 x a week. Now that we are amazing with our daily reading I will be tracking how often the children are going on TT Rockstars. It is SO important that the children are secure with their times tables so the more they can practice the better. My door is always open from 8:15 so for those that were unable to read the night before or complete TT Rockstars they can come in and take the opportunity to complete either or.
