SWAT proudly led their very first project this term, Spread the Happiness, an inspiring initiative run by Nationwide that aims to reduce isolation and loneliness for elderly and vulnerable residents living in care homes.
Driven by their mission statement — “Bringing joy and happiness through meaningful connections” — SWAT set out to make a real difference through the simple but powerful act of letter writing. Their goal was to spread happiness, enhance wellbeing, and sprinkle warmth and value into the lives of elderly residents across the country, while also helping our children understand the importance of kindness, empathy and community.
Children across the school were encouraged to take part by writing thoughtful cards, drawing cheerful pictures and sharing positive messages, all of which were sent to care homes to be shared with residents. The enthusiasm shown by our pupils was truly heart-warming, with so many children keen to get involved and share their happiness with others.
We were thrilled by the response and incredibly proud of the care, creativity and compassion shown by our school community. This project not only brought smiles to those receiving the messages, but also helped our pupils understand how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Well done to SWAT and to everyone who took part in helping to spread happiness and brighten someone’s day.
