Leading the Way: Our New House Captains

One of the most prestigious roles a Year 6 pupil can hold at Tregoze Primary School is becoming a House Captain or Vice Captain. This important position gives pupils the opportunity to demonstrate leadership, responsibility and commitment to the whole school community.

At Tregoze, pupils belong to one of four houses: Brunel, Churchward, Bolingbroke and Lydiard. Each house is named after a significant local place or person, helping to strengthen pupils’ sense of pride and connection to our community.

To be considered for the role, Year 6 pupils were required to write and present a speech to their house, explaining why they should be chosen as a captain. The children spent a great deal of time carefully crafting their speeches, thoughtfully reflecting on the values, skills and qualities they could offer. Their confidence, passion and maturity were impressive, and both staff and pupils were extremely proud of the effort shown.

Following the presentations, the whole school took part in voting. Mrs Tudor carefully counted the votes and the successful House Captains and Vice Captains were announced in assembly to much excitement and applause.

Throughout the year, our new House Captains will take on a range of important responsibilities. These include encouraging their house teams to earn dojos by acting as positive role models, helping to organise and run house matches, and supporting children within their house, particularly on the playground.

We are confident that all of our House Captains and Vice Captains will rise to the challenge and carry out their roles with enthusiasm, fairness and pride. Well done to everyone who took part — we know you will do a brilliant job.
